BE PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

There are many options to become involved in our wonderful project.

VOLUNTEERING @ FARM SHIZEN

Life at Natural Farm Shizen follows the rhythm of the land and the community. Volunteering here means becoming part of daily farm life, taking part in practical activities rooted in Masanobu Fukuoka’s philosophy of natural farming, and learning through observation, hands-on work, and shared reflection rather than through formal instruction.

Volunteering is an invitation to live simply, to work with awareness and to learn from nature and from one another. It is not about productivity, but about presence — cultivating attention, patience and relationship with the land, the place and the people who share it.

To volunteer at Shizen, you must be over 18 years old and able to commit to a minimum stay of three weeks. We ask all prospective volunteers to carefully read the Volunteer Charter, which outlines the principles, rhythm of life and shared responsibilities that shape community life at the farm.

We welcome volunteers from April to October, and kindly ask that no animals be brought along.

If, after reading the Charter, you feel aligned with our approach and wish to participate, please fill in the Expression of Interest form linked at the end of the document. We will then get in touch to explore together whether volunteering at Shizen is a good fit.

Read the Volunteer Charter and express your interest in volunteering with us

If you’re unable to commit to a minimum of three weeks, you’re welcome to visit us for a shorter period and experience life at Farm Shizen. Click here to explore this option.

Volunteering at Shizen is an opportunity to slow down, to listen more deeply, and to rediscover a way of communicating beyond words — in silence, through shared presence and simple gestures.

ORGANIZE A WORKSHOP WITH KUTLUHAN

Workshops facilitated by Kutluhan are not designed as courses to transmit information, but as shared spaces of practice and presence — moments where people can meet natural farming through direct contact with the land, observation and being together.

Each workshop is shaped by the place that hosts it, the season and the group that gathers. Rather than following a fixed program, the days unfold organically, combining practical experience, reflection, silence and dialogue. What is offered is not a method to apply, but an invitation to slow down and listen — to soil, to nature and to oneself.

In Italy, all workshops are organised within the framework of RAN – Rete per l’Agricoltura Naturale, of which Kutluhan is a co-founder. These workshops are offered without a fixed price, based entirely on free donation, with no obligation and no predefined contribution. This choice reflects a commitment to accessibility, trust and non-transactional exchange, allowing each participant to contribute according to their possibilities and their heart.

Outside Italy, workshops are organised directly by Kutluhan in collaboration with farms, communities and local initiatives. In these contexts, a minimum contribution is requested to cover organisational and travel expenses, while keeping the same spirit of simplicity, openness and respect.

Organising a workshop means creating a space where natural farming can be lived as a practice — not separated from daily life, but woven into it. It is an invitation to host a shared exploration, where learning arises through presence rather than instruction, and where both land and people are met with care.

If you are interested in organising a workshop, you are welcome to get in touch. Together we can explore whether the timing, place and intention are aligned, and allow the workshop to take shape naturally.

SUPPORT THE WORK

The work that grows around Natural Farm Shizen, the Natural Farming Center APS and the wider network is sustained through trust, generosity and shared responsibility.

Supporting this work is not a transaction. It is a gesture of participation — a way of standing alongside projects that aim to regenerate land, nurture communities and keep natural farming accessible, simple and alive.

Contributions help sustain:

  • natural farming and learning spaces

  • reforestation and seed-based regeneration projects

  • initiatives with young people and communities

  • educational activities, workshops and knowledge sharing

  • ongoing projects in Europe and Africa, including land regeneration and food sovereignty efforts

Donations are used with care and transparency, allowing the work to continue without pressure to commercialise or compromise its values. They help create the conditions in which time, attention and presence can remain at the centre.

There is no fixed amount and no obligation.

Each contribution is offered freely, according to individual possibilities and intention.

Supporting the work means trusting life in action — allowing seeds, ideas and relationships to keep growing quietly, in their own time.

If you feel called to contribute, your support is received with gratitude and responsibility.

BECOME PART OF THE ASSOCIATION

Becoming part of the association means choosing to support this work not only through appreciation, but through shared responsibility and continuity.

The Natural Farming Center APS exists to protect and sustain projects rooted in natural farming, regeneration, education and community-building. Membership helps provide a stable foundation that allows these activities to grow over time, while remaining independent, accessible and aligned with their core values.

Joining the association is a simple and concrete way to:

  • support natural farming practices and learning spaces

  • contribute to reforestation and regeneration projects

  • sustain educational initiatives and work with young people

  • strengthen a network of people committed to a respectful relationship with land and life

Membership is not about status or obligation. It is about belonging — standing alongside others who wish to nourish this work with care, trust and presence.

As a member, you help ensure that decisions are taken collectively, transparently and with long-term vision, allowing the association to continue serving its purpose without pressure to commercialise or compromise its principles.

If you feel resonance with this path and wish to support it in a more structured way, you are welcome to become part of the association. Your participation helps create the conditions for this work to remain alive, rooted and open to the future.
