TURNING DRY LAND IN FORESTS

Reforestation through seedballs is a simple and powerful expression of natural farming — a way of working with life to restore what has been damaged, exhausted or forgotten.

Masanobu Fukuoka once spoke of his dream of sowing seeds in the desert. Inspired by this vision, our reforestation actions are gatherings of people who come together with a shared intention: to offer life back to places where forests have been cut, land has been exploited, or fire and degradation have left the soil exposed.

Seedballs allow regeneration to happen gently and on a larger scale. By protecting seeds with clay and organic matter, they can be spread over wide areas and stored for up to six months, ready to be thrown just before the autumn rains begin. In this way, seeds are given time, protection and the right moment to awaken.

Preparing seedballs is not only an ecological act, but also a collective one. These moments become opportunities to gather, share music, joy and presence, and reconnect with the land together. Through simple gestures, people participate directly in the regeneration of ecosystems, transforming care into action.

Reforestation through seedballs does not aim to control outcomes, but to create conditions in which nature can respond in its own way and time. Each seed carries the possibility of renewal, and each action contributes to a wider movement of trust in life.

If you would like to organise a seedball reforestation action in your area, feel free to get in touch. We are happy to share guidelines and support the process, allowing these simple practices to travel and take root wherever they are needed.
